10th January, 2013

Northamptonshire’s Boughton House, has a starring role in the Les Misérables feature film which opens in cinemas nationwide on Friday.

Chosen due to its French architectural style, Boughton, which was recently used as Gary Barlow’s X-Factor judging house, doubled as the family home of one of the key characters, ‘Marius’ (played by Eddie Redmayne), and provides the setting for his wedding to ‘Cosette’ (Amanda Seyfried).
Charles Lister, Boughton House Property Manager, comments: “We are delighted to have played a small part in the making of the Les Miserables film, which is sure to be huge hit with audiences when it opens this week. The cast and crew were incredibly respectful of Boughton, and we’re all very excited about seeing the Estate on the big screen.”

Built in the sixteenth century and nestled in a thousand acres of Northamptonshire countryside, Boughton expands to feature a church, seven courtyards, a lily pond and rose garden, all within a Grade 1 listed park.

Inside the property is an exquisite fine art collection that includes pieces from Gainsborough and Van Dyck, French porcelain once made for royalty and one of the best privately-held armouries in the country.
