Open Weekend
A passionate community group based on the Estate, the 384th Bombardment Group, is working to establish a museum dedicated to commemorating the history of Grafton Airfield, a significant World War II site.
The museum will be housed in one of the original buildings on site, offering a lasting tribute to the American airmen who served there and preserving the legacy of the airfield for future generations.
As part of their ongoing efforts, the group will be hosting an Open Weekend, welcoming anyone interested in learning more about the project and its progress. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with local history and support an important heritage initiative.

The Journey So Far...
In early 2024, Buccleuch and the Trustees of the 384th Bombardment Group Museum were delighted to announce an exciting agreement: the historic World War II site at Grafton Park Wood will be transformed into a museum, offering visitors a powerful glimpse into the lives of the American airmen stationed there during the war.
