House Tours - Discover Boughton House

Explore the stunning interiors and fascinating history of Boughton House, the English Versailles, on a free-flow tour of the main downstairs rooms of the House, including the impressive Great Hall. Our knowledgeable guides will help you to understand 500 years of heritage, history and people that culminated in the house and collection we have today.

Gardens and Landscape Walk

Join David Cullum, Parks and Gardens Manager at Boughton, for an enjoyable garden stroll taking in the many sites of the historic gardens, parkland and landscape at Boughton House, from landform Orpheus to the newest restoration project – the Star Pond.

The walk last approximately 90 minutes, covering a lot of ground on a mix of terrains, from grass to gravel.

Antique Valuations

We are delighted that Gildings Auctioneers of Market Harborough will be attending the Homes & Gardens Fair 8/9 June, giving you the opportunity to bring antique items for valuation by their team of professional antique valuers.

Beat Route Radio

Beat Route Radio, the community radio station for north Northamptonshire and the Nene Valley, will be running live broadcasts from the event on Saturday 8th June in their trailer.  Playing music, conducting live interviews and more!

 

Thomas's Fund - Charity Partner

Thomas’s Fund is a charity that provides music therapy for children and young people (0-19) with life-limiting illnesses (or life-threatening conditions) and/or a disability which, for medical reasons, means they are too ill to attend school, or an Early Years setting, for extended periods. Their work takes place within Northamptonshire, UK (at home; in hospital or as part of continuing care).

They will be attending over the weekend with an information stall and a range of children’s activities and crafts to help raise funds and a raffle with some great prizes from the Home Outlet Store.

Demonstrations

Tranquil Plants: 10.30am and 2pm (Sat Only)

Discover the beauty and unique benefits of Japanese ‘Kokedama’ and Bonsai Trees with Tranquil Plants owner Stefan Thomas. ‘Kokedama’ is a traditional Japanese art form that showcases the beauty of nature through the art of wrapping plants in lush green moss instead of traditional pots. Tranquil Plants is centred around reconnecting individuals with nature through the beauty of Kokedama plants and bonsai trees, aiming to enhance physical and mental wellbeing. They believe in the transformative power of indoor plants to purify air, reduce stress, and boost mood, creating serene sanctuaries that transcend the limitations of urban living.

Greedy Gordon’s Group: 11.30am and 2.30pm

Enjoy a tasty talk from local restaurant group Greedy Gordon’s as they discuss the delicious food and drink that Northamptonshire has to offer. Greedy Gordon’s run a collection of Northamptonshire pubs, restaurants, a cafe and farmshop, connecting the local community with delicious food & drink, great service and a warm traditional pub welcome.

John Reed & Sons Upholstery: 12 noon and 3pm

Watch a fascinating demonstration and talk from Northamptonshire’s leading experts in upholstery and furniture restoration. John Reed & Sons was established in 1972 and is a family run company, which has covered everything from restoration and upholstery on both antique and modern day furniture.

Willow Tree Gin 12.15pm and 2.15pm

Willow Tree Gin, is home of the award-winning Willow Tree smoked gin distilled in Bedfordshire’s first distillery. In addition to selling their ethically responsible and delicious gin they also offer Gin Making Courses, distillery tours & Cocktails at their micro-brewery, pop up gin bar for wedding, events  & parties.

Deb Jones Willow Weaving - 12.30pm & 3.30pm

Discover the art of willow weaving from arts and crafts professional Deb Jones. Willow weaving is an ancient craft where flexible willow branches are twisted and woven into beautiful, durable creations like baskets, sculptures, and furniture. It’s a sustainable and fascinating way to create unique pieces of art! Deb will be creating flowers, swallows and dragonflies.

Nene Lacemakers 10am-4pm

Discover the traditional art of lace making. Nene Lacemakers is a thriving and friendly group which meets twice a month in Northampton.  Northamptonshire is one of the three traditional East Midlands bobbin lacemaking counties, the others being Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and their members are enthusiastic about our lace heritage, working with local organisations to promote knowledge of our craft.  Watch them at the Homes and Gardens Fair to learn more about this intricate craft.

The Bee Friendly Store 10am-4pm

Discover the fascinating benefits of bees! The Bee Store have an unwavering passion for discovering the Remarkable World of Honey Bees, the Guardians of the UK’s Ecosystem. They will be offering honey tasting at the Homes & Gardens Fair and have A4 ‘bee and pollinators’ colouring in pages for children.
