Annabel Eley

Annabel Eley biography

After a foundation course at Lincoln College of Art followed by a degree in Jewellery Design at London’s Central School of Art, Annabel  enjoyed an illustrious career as a jeweller, her award-winning designs attracting a loyal following over many years, and commissions from the Goldsmiths’ Company, The Royal Mint and De Beers.

A sabbatical from jewellery coincided with a desire to work on a larger scale in the form of painting and steel sculpture. Whilst Annabel’s artwork is informed by her extensive jewellery career, each discipline has a reciprocal impact on the others. Her enjoyment of texture and developing passion for colour found a new outlet in her painting, leading to a successful joint exhibition at Jonathan Cooper’s gallery in London.

The paintings are slowly built up with layers of paint and collage, punctuated with drawn and scraped lines. They often evolve from the landscape whether rural or urban/industrial, and many contain coastal elements.

“ My paintings convey my response to a place, situation, or feeling. Docks are particularly exciting places for me, the massive bulk of ships and wharves, the found shapes amongst structures and machinery, peeling and rusting surfaces, and flashes of bright colour. I am excited to be exhibiting a new series of work at Boughton House, as part of Northamptonshire Open Studios, whilst the full range of my work can be seen on my website”.

Paula Le Baigue

Paula Le Baigue

Paula Le Baigue was born in London and now lives in Abthorpe, Northants with her husband and two dachshunds. She discovered her love and talent for art later in life after her children had grown up and were making their own way in the world.

Initially she began her art education by joining Buckingham Art School and then after gaining GCSE and A level art she continued on to the University of Northampton where she graduated with BA (Hons) in 2016 and then continued to graduate with a Master of Arts in 2019, basically she just did not want to leave the wonderful environment of working artist and tutors. She does now teach private classes.

Her main practice is Abstract Landscape and portraiture, either client commissioned or from imagination. Her work has been exhibited in Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and London with many of her art works being owned by private collectors. She now has a new series of abstract landscapes that are proving to be very popular because of the very effective technique that she has discovered.
