Our Tours
When Boughton House is open to the public, we offer three different tours of the House:
- The Great Hall
- The State Rooms Tour
- Books, Beds, and Beyond.
Each takes in a different area of the House, and all include entry to the Gardens. If you would like to book all three tours – read more here.
The Great Hall Experience*
Enjoy the fabulous treasures of Boughton House! Our knowledgeable guides will help you to understand 500 years of heritage, history and people that culminated in the house and collection we have today.
* Please note this is free flow/self guided at weekends and bank holidays and a guided tour on weekdays.

The State Rooms Tour (Guided)*
Follow in the footsteps of William III and enjoy the splendour of the State Apartments that were created for his visit in 1695. The fabulous ceilings painted by Louis Chéron have undergone extensive restoration and conservation for your enjoyment.

The Books, Beds and Beyond Tour (Guided)*
An eclectic and adventurous tour of the library, bedrooms, backstairs, kitchen and other hidden areas of the House.

A glimpse into the magnificent interior of Boughton House.
With so much to see we have created three special tours:

- The State Rooms Tour
- Books, Beds and Beyond
All the tours also include entry to the Gardens and Stableyard attractions, including the Tearoom and Gift Shop.
The Great Hall Experience (Free-flow)/Guided Tour
Duration
- Weekends & Bank Holidays: Explore 10 rooms at your own pace (45–60 minutes). Guides are available throughout to answer questions.
- Weekdays: Join a guided Great Hall tour (approximately 50 minutes).
Price
- £14 per person.
- Includes access to the Gardens and Armoury.
- Free for Historic Houses members.
Times
- Weekends & Bank Holidays: Self-guided visits from 13:00 – 17:00 (last entry 16:00).
- Weekdays: Guided Great Hall tours at 13:00, 13:30, 15:00
The State Rooms Tour (Guided)*
Duration: You will be guided through the ten rooms which will take 30- 45mins.
Please note: There are stairs on this tour. A lift is available – please email info@boughtonhouse.co.uk to make arrangements.
Price: £14 with access to Gardens or only £5 if also doing The Great Hall Tour or you are an Historic Houses member.
Times:
- Weekends and Bank Holidays: 13:30 and 14:30
- Weekdays: 14:00 and 14:30
The Books, Beds and Beyond Tour (Guided)*
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes/one hour.
Please note: The tour encompasses many staircases, some quite challenging, as you wind around the house.
Price: £10.00 (as an addition to the Great Tour or State Rooms Tour or for Historic Houses members, £16 if standalone.)

The Armoury
Don’t miss the world-renowned Boughton Armoury when you visit. The Armoury contains an outstanding collection of swords, pistols and armour, some of which are over 500 years old. It will be open for visitors to enjoy as part of The Great Hall Experience/Tour.
Historic Houses Members
We are delighted to welcome Historic House members. Members of Historic Houses are able to enjoy a free visit to the Gardens or the Great Hall Tour (including Gardens). The State Rooms Tour and Books, Beds and Beyond are charged at normal rates.
For clarity, opening prices for HH Members during normal opening:
Gardens: Free.
Great Hall and/or Gardens: Free.
Gardens and State Rooms Tour: £5 per person.
Gardens, Great Hall tour and State Rooms Tour: £5 per person.
Gardens, Great Hall tour and Books and Beyond tour: £10 per person.
Gardens, Great Hall tour, State Rooms and Books and Beyond Tour: £15 per person.

If you wish to enjoy all tours, please select: The Great Hall and visit at 13:00. It is a ‘free-flow’ visit at weekends and bank holidays and guided on weekdays.
Once added to basket, on next page select State Rooms Tour ‘Add On’ option at 13:30 (weekends/bank holidays) or 14:00 or 14:30 on weekdays.
Then select the 15:30 Books, Beds and Beyond (‘Additional Tour’ option).
